Faith Development
Our Adult Christian Exploration Committee is dedicated to finding ways to help nurture your faith. This committee coordinates a host of engaging and relevant Sunday morning seminars throughout the program year (Sept-April), which are outlined in Mindbenders.
Additionally, at any given time, we have several small groups meeting on their own -- our Thursday Morning Women's Book Group and our Friday Morning Moms in Faith, for example. Our Assoc Minister, Katherine Willis Pershey, recently started a Thursday Night Bible Study, and a new Gift of Years group began recently began meeting on Tuesday mornings. These forums also serve as wonderful ways to nurture and explore your faith. Through the friendships formed, connections to the church grow stronger and your relationship to God is deepened.
Better understading God and faith is the goal of our Eighth Grade Confirmation Program, which meets throughout the year on Sunday mornings. Our confirmands discuss everything from the Bible, to the History of the church to what the UCC is all about. The group serves meals to the client's of Chicago's Night Ministry, packages food at Feed My Starving Children and spends a day at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. At their annual overnight retreat in the Spring, the children compose a statement of faith in preparation for the Rite of Confirmation in May. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
